About the position

The Research Assistant for Contemporary Jewelry at the Dallas Museum of Art plays a crucial role in supporting the 2025 Contemporary Jewelry exhibition and its accompanying catalog. This position involves extensive research, writing, documentation, and administrative tasks, ensuring the successful execution of the exhibition and its online components. The role requires collaboration with various internal departments and external stakeholders, making it essential for the candidate to possess strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Finalize and update research on artists, works, and themes related to catalog and exhibition content.
  • Organize and maintain exhibition and catalog checklists and artist and object files.
  • Draft and upload entries on artists, objects, and related materials for the website component of the project.
  • Serve as curatorial project liaison with external constituents (lenders, donors, exhibition designers, etc.) and internal departments (Exhibitions + Interpretation, Publications, Photography, Conservation, Development, Marketing, etc.).
  • Draft entries and labels for exhibition with curator.
  • Draft loan letters, correspondence, and exhibition didactics.
  • Assist with all aspects of exhibition catalog production.
  • Assist in developing and conducting training and tours for the exhibition.
  • Assist curator on all other aspects of this project as they evolve.

Requirements

  • MA in art, design, or craft history with a focus on contemporary jewelry preferred.
  • Experience with databases or content management systems preferred.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively on a team.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to speak publicly.
  • Command of Microsoft Office suite, including PowerPoint.
