About the position

The Research Assistant in the Department of Neurology at Wayne State University plays a crucial role in supporting scientific and technical research under the guidance of the Principal Investigator. Responsibilities

  • Provide scientific and technical assistance for laboratory-based, clinical, or population science research.
  • Assist in writing research protocols and manuscript preparation.
  • Design and perform research protocols independently or under direction.
  • Recruit participants for studies by developing surveys and interviewing candidates.
  • Implement research objectives while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Communicate research status with the principal investigator and postdoctoral scholars/fellows.
  • Collect and log laboratory results, clinical outcomes, and survey data.
  • Evaluate and perform data analysis using graphs, charts, or tables.
  • Proofread and edit research data and documents for accuracy.
  • Assist in writing methods and summarizing data for presentations and journal submissions.
  • Maintain laboratory work areas and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Order and organize required research supplies and maintain cleanliness of the work station.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study preferred.
  • Entry-level position requiring less than a year of job-related experience.
  • Experience performing basic research techniques or interacting with human subjects preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong analytical skills to summarize and interpret research findings.
  • Knowledge of scientific integrity principles.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
