The Marsico Institute for Early Learning, part of the Morgridge College of Education at the University of Denver, is dedicated to enhancing learning environments and outcomes for children from birth to age 8. The institute focuses on identifying and disseminating the best practices in early learning research, policy, and practice to various stakeholders, including academics, practitioners, policymakers, and parents. The quality of relationships and learning opportunities that young children experience is crucial for their lifelong success. The Marsico Institute is currently seeking Research Assistants in the Greater Detroit Area to contribute to an efficacy research study that evaluates an early math intervention. Research Assistants will work under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigators and Project Director. Their primary responsibilities will include using the Research-based Early Math Assessment (REMA) to collect baseline and post-intervention assessment data on preschool students' knowledge and skills. This role requires traveling to various sites, conducting assessments, and ensuring data accuracy through video recordings of each assessment. Before data collection begins, all Research Assistants must complete a 2 to 3-day in-person training on the REMA assessment in the Detroit Metro area. They will also need to achieve certification by demonstrating at least 85% accuracy in administering and scoring the assessment. This temporary, grant-funded position will last from August through October 2024, or until all student data has been collected. Research Assistants are expected to be available for travel and assessments at multiple school sites in Oakland and Wayne Counties, Michigan, at least three days a week during specified hours.
