About the position

The Research Assistant I position at Brigham & Women's Hospital (BWH) in the Sleep Medicine department involves providing support for research and clinical studies under the supervision of a manager or project leader. The role includes recruiting and evaluating research subjects, collecting and organizing data, and maintaining participant databases, all while adhering to established protocols and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the implementation of research studies within the BWH community and with external vendors.
  • Initiates and maintains contact with study participants, screening applicants for eligibility.
  • Develops and implements participant recruitment strategies in collaboration with Project Leaders.
  • Maintains participant information databases and prepares reports for internal and external guidelines.
  • Prepares materials necessary for research protocols and conducts interviews with participants.
  • Tracks payments to study participants and manages recruitment costs.
  • Assists in testing and training staff on study-specific equipment.
  • Helps organize and analyze data during and after studies.
  • Assists in preparing study information for presentations and manuscripts.
  • Creates agendas and takes meeting minutes for project discussions.
  • May assist in training and orienting new staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, neuroscience, biology).
  • Preferably one year of experience in a clinical research setting or related experience.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in customer service or related fields.
  • Familiarity with clinical research protocols and study goals.
