About the position

The Research Assistant I Lab position at Harvard University Medical School involves a variety of responsibilities centered around electron and X-ray microscopy (EM and XNH). The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of microscopy, including sample preparation, sectioning, staining, data acquisition, and data pre-processing. This role requires active engagement in collaborative efforts, where the assistant will also be tasked with training new users in the lab. Additionally, the position involves contributing to the ongoing development of high-throughput connectomic methods. This includes reporting on progress, troubleshooting issues, and advancing workflows for new projects, ensuring that the lab remains at the forefront of research in this area. Responsibilities

  • Perform sample preparation, sectioning, and staining for electron and X-ray microscopy.

Requirements

  • College background or equivalent work experience, preferably in a related discipline.
  • One year of related work experience (relevant coursework may count towards experience).
  • Demonstrated abilities in laboratory techniques required.
  • High level of manual dexterity and attention to detail required.
  • Appropriate communication skills required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience with electron microscopy techniques is preferred.
