As a Research Assistant I, you will play a vital role in supporting ongoing scientific experiments, which may include tasks such as animal colony maintenance, tissue culture, mouse handling, and PCR genotyping. This position requires a strong dedication to following proper safety guidelines and maintaining accurate lab records and documentation. In this role, you will be expected to design and perform scientific experiments, analyze and interpret results, and collaborate with supervisors and other research personnel in the preparation of scientific papers for publication. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively within a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential, as these tools will be used for data analysis and presentation. The Levi Lab is part of a multidisciplinary program that aims to educate residents and students while advancing the field of surgery through research. Responsibilities

  • Perform scientific and medical research work in biology, chemistry, physics, or related fields.
  • Construct, assemble, and operate laboratory equipment and apparatus.
  • Record and evaluate data obtained from work assignments for use in scientific papers.
  • Collaborate with supervisor or other research personnel in preparation of scientific papers for publication.
  • Read literature and confer with supervisor concerning procedures and implementation.
  • Collect and organize research data for project reports.
  • Plan for and provide working supervision to Research Technicians or other laboratory personnel of lower grade, if applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree with major coursework in field of assignment and no experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree with major coursework in field of assignment and one (1) year research experience at level of Research Technician or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years college with emphasis in coursework in field of assignment and four (4) years research experience including two (2) years at level of Research Technician or equivalent.
  • High school graduation or GED and six (6) years research experience to include two (2) years at level of Research Technician or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills.
