The Research Assistant I position in Microbiology & Molecular Genetics at UTHealth Houston involves supporting research projects under the close direction of senior research staff. The role includes conducting various research activities, maintaining laboratory equipment, collecting and interpreting research data, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations. Responsibilities

  • Conduct research activities according to research protocol under close supervision.
  • Perform patient recruiting and screening, traditional laboratory experiments, informatics, and field interviewer recruiting.
  • Maintain clean laboratory equipment and work areas to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Collect, evaluate, and interpret research data to provide information to principal investigators and researchers.
  • Update notebooks, records, and databases as needed.
  • Stay informed about new and updated protocols for the research department.
  • Order laboratory and other supplies as directed by senior research staff.
  • Coordinate the work of laboratory technicians and assistants as needed.
  • Comply with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulations, and codes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of research fields.
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in lieu of education.
  • No years of experience required.
