About the position

The Research Assistant I position in the Pediatrics department at UT Southwestern is a full-time role focused on providing technical assistance in medical and scientific research. The successful candidate will support lab startup and ongoing research aimed at understanding factors influencing lung development and associated diseases in premature infants. This role requires a commitment of at least two years and involves participation in experimental planning, data acquisition, and animal studies.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance in medical and scientific research assignments.
• Participate in experimental planning and data acquisition.
• Conduct animal studies and assist in lab management and startup operations.
• Record and evaluate data for scientific papers.
• Collaborate with supervisors on scientific publications.
• Collect and organize research data for project reports.
• Construct, assemble, and operate laboratory equipment.

Requirements

• Master's degree in a relevant field with no experience required, or a Bachelor's degree with relevant coursework.
• 1 year of research experience at the level of Research Technician or equivalent with a Bachelor's degree, or 4 years of research experience including 2 years at the level of Research Technician with 2 years of college, or 6 years of research experience with a High School diploma and 2 years at the level of Research Technician.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in mouse colony management and experimentation.
• Familiarity with molecular biology techniques and imaging.
