About the position

The Research Assistant I position at Brigham and Women's Hospital focuses on supporting the development of a book manuscript within the Division of Global Health Equity. This part-time role requires excellent writing and research skills, with a commitment of approximately 5 hours per week. The position is remote and is expected to start in October 2024, continuing until February 2025. The candidate will work both independently and collaboratively, contributing to literature reviews, data analysis, and manuscript feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Review and respond to manuscript drafts in a timely manner.
  • Develop footnotes for the manuscript.
  • Conduct literature reviews to strengthen manuscript arguments.
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Present research insights and feedback at weekly meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • At least 1 year of research experience, particularly in anthropology, critical theory, and global mental health.
  • Excellent self-directed organizational skills and time management.
  • Strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Google applications (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Calendar, Meet, Slides).
  • Experience with autobiography, fact checking, and academic/journalistic writing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with queer, decolonial, and/or critical theory studies.
  • Background in public health, global health, health policy, economics, and/or medicine.
