The University of Michigan-Flint is seeking a Research Assistant I for a temporary position within the Department of Public Health and Health Sciences. This role is part of the DEI Centers Project, which aims to explore the history and impact of student activism, administrative leadership, and fiscal decisions on the establishment and maintenance of the Center for Global Engagement at the University. The project is led by Dr. Lisa Lapeyrouse and is funded by the University of Michigan's Inclusive History Project. The Research Assistant will be responsible for conducting research that documents the history and role of student activism in the establishment of the Center for Global Engagement. This includes examining how changes in leadership and funding have influenced the center's infrastructure, capacity, priorities, and programming over time. Additionally, the assistant will investigate the relationship between students' sense of belonging and the Center for Global Engagement. The position is expected to last from July 2024 through December 31, 2024, requiring approximately 6 hours of work per week. The work schedule will be flexible to accommodate the assistant's other commitments, particularly if they are a student. The role involves a variety of tasks, including interviewing individuals, collecting and organizing historical documents, preparing materials for preservation, designing research instruments, and conducting both qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis. The findings from this research will be presented and disseminated to relevant stakeholders.
