About the position

The Research Assistant I position at Scripps Research involves performing a variety of standard laboratory procedures under minimal supervision. The role includes data analysis, troubleshooting methods, and potentially assisting in experiment design. The assistant will maintain lab equipment and provide guidance to other personnel, contributing to significant biomedical research projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform PCR, gel electrophoresis, and Flow Cytometry.
• Maintain lab equipment on a daily basis and order/stock lab supplies.
• Conduct a wide variety of standard laboratory techniques/procedures.
• Use judgment to adapt standard methods and techniques when necessary.
• Provide interpretation and initial analyses of results.
• Troubleshoot and modify procedures as needed.
• Assist in designing experiments to complete segments of the overall research plan.

Requirements

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent experience.
• 1-3 years of experience required; candidates with a Master's degree require 0-2 years of experience.
