About the position

The Research Assistant I position at Harvard Medical School's Department of Neurobiology focuses on understanding neurotransmitter release and signaling mechanisms. The role involves conducting laboratory research tasks related to neurotransmission, working with experimental animals, and utilizing various molecular and cellular techniques. The ideal candidate should be organized, motivated, and possess strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform experiments to assess neurotransmission in the brain, including work with experimental animals and molecular techniques.
  • Organize and summarize data, reporting experimental progress and results using various processing platforms.
  • Prepare solutions and stocks for general lab operations and support routine laboratory maintenance tasks, including equipment maintenance and ordering lab supplies.

Requirements

  • College background or equivalent work experience.
  • At least one year of related work experience, with relevant coursework counting towards experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in mouse husbandry, neuroscience, brain morphology, and/or cellular and molecular biology preferred.
  • Intent for a commitment of more than one year preferred.
