About the position

Join the HJF Team! HJF is seeking a Research Assistant II with Animal Science duties to perform research and/or development in collaboration with other scientific and technical staff. May exercise technical discretion in the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project strategies utilizing animal preclinical models, including preparation and execution of studies.

Responsibilities

• Executes laboratory research by assisting research investigators in animal studies (small animal surgery, large surgery, monitor, post-surgery observation, data collection at time points) in support of research studies.
• Plans, conducts, and completes investigations under supervision.
• Assists with the writing and editing of experimental results for publication in technical and peer-reviewed journals.
• Performs routine data analysis and verifies and corrects data entry.
• Maintains records and documentation regarding assigned research.
• Documents current or new procedures or protocols for sample selection, data collection, data processing, and/or statistical estimation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in life science.
• Minimum of 3-5 years' experience required.
• Knowledge of complex laboratory procedures.
• Ability to meet deadlines of projects.
• Good communication and analytical skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous animal model experience is a plus.
