About the position

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Research Assistant III. This role is integral to the research team and involves a variety of research-related activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting experiments and laboratory analyses in accordance with clearly defined procedures. This includes participating in the design and execution of research experiments, as well as performing statistical analyses of research data using both descriptive statistics and advanced statistical methods. The position also requires the preparation of reports and the generation of tables and graphics for publication purposes. In addition to conducting experiments, the Research Assistant III will maintain a detailed lab notebook documenting all experiments and results. This documentation is crucial for ensuring the integrity and reproducibility of research findings. The role may also involve contributing to dissemination efforts, which include compiling results and providing statistical summaries to support the publication of research findings. Responsibilities

  • Conduct experiments and laboratory analyses following clearly defined procedures.
  • Participate in developing objectives, designing and conducting research experiments.
  • Participate in conducting statistical analyses of research data using descriptive statistics or advanced statistical procedures.
  • Contribute to dissemination efforts including compiling results, preparing reports, providing statistical summaries, and generating tables and graphics for publication.
  • Maintain lab notebook documenting experiments and results.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and one or more years of research experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity in programming and application of common statistical methods in biomedical research, such as SAS, or R or another commonly accepted analytical programming language.
