About the position

The Research Assistant III position at Meta Reality Labs involves supporting the HW Devices team in conducting human subjects research. The role focuses on the setup, implementation, and data collection for various studies, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and research guidelines. The assistant will collaborate with research staff and stakeholders to facilitate effective study execution and contribute to the overall research process.

Responsibilities

  • Assist principal investigators with experiments involving human subjects.
  • Stage and set up equipment for the study, engaging with engineering and external vendors.
  • Pilot experiments, make observations, and provide feedback to optimize study procedures.
  • Assist the study project manager in participant recruiting and scheduling activities.
  • Conduct the study, including screening participants, obtaining consent, and guiding them through procedures.
  • Collect and format data according to study design, and create basic reports regarding the data.
  • Support research and development in data collection and tracking of participant compensation.
  • Troubleshoot prototypes used in studies and summarize literature reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree as a minimum.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and processes quickly.
  • Experience executing research with human subjects.
  • Prior experience as a research assistant or research coordinator.
  • Prior data handling experiences and data analysis expertise.
  • Experience with office tools (Word, Excel, Google Docs, etc.).
  • Experience with research participant recruitment and personal data processing.
  • Experience understanding and communicating technical information to non-experts.
  • Experience coordinating schedules across multiple teams and managing shared resources.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in a scientific discipline.
  • Preferred Master's or Ph.D. research experiences.
  • 2+ years experience as a research assistant or research coordinator in a technology research environment.
  • Experience with early stage prototypes.
  • General interests in technology and human-centered design.
  • Hardware research experience preferred.
  • Knowledge or background in human perception (visual/auditory) and human behaviors.
