The Center for Technology and Economic Development (CTED) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking a Research Assistant for a one-year appointment, with a start date no later than September 1, 2024. This position is integral to supporting the research efforts and data analysis for various projects undertaken by CTED. The Research Assistant will be involved in conducting research focused on labor migration and commodities markets, as well as completing miscellaneous tasks as directed by the Principal Investigator, Dr. Yaw Nyarko. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in field research projects, conducting data analysis, preparing literature reviews, translating research findings, and contributing to fieldwork related to the Center's commodities markets research. Additionally, the Research Assistant will be expected to generate research reports, concept notes, and academic papers, showcasing their ability to synthesize and communicate complex information effectively. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field. Experience with statistical software such as STATA and Matlab is essential, along with strong writing skills. Preference will be given to applicants who have conducted field research in emerging countries and have experience working on randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Knowledge of commodities markets, labor migration, and technology and economic development will be considered advantageous. The role requires the ability to work autonomously while also being a collaborative team member under the guidance of the Principal Investigator.
