The SCCC Research Assistant Intern plays a crucial role in supporting research activities within the assigned department(s) at the University of Miami. This position involves a variety of tasks related to data compilation, manipulation, and presentation, which are essential for conducting physical, chemical, biological, and other laboratory tests and experiments. Interns will gain hands-on experience in modern research techniques and will be introduced to the types of projects typically encountered during graduate research training. This experience is designed to foster an understanding of the planning, discipline, and teamwork necessary to pursue fundamental questions in the biological sciences. During the ten-week internship, participants will engage in individual research projects under the supervision of faculty members from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. They will have the opportunity to plan and execute experimental strategies aimed at answering scientific questions, while also participating in professional development activities such as weekly workshops and seminars. The role requires adherence to university policies and procedures, ensuring the safeguarding of university assets while maintaining accurate records of research protocols and documentation. The intern will also be responsible for performing literature research, compiling reference and statistical data, analyzing and presenting data in various formats, documenting experiment results, and preparing literature reviews on proposed topics.
