The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) and the Office of Graduate Studies at the University of Miami are excited to announce the Research Assistant Intern position as part of the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Program. This internship is designed for students interested in gaining hands-on experience in the field of Biomedical Sciences, with a focus on various research areas such as Bacterial Pathogenesis, Cancer Biology, Gene Expression/Molecular Genetics, Immunology, Neuroscience, and Stem Cell/Regenerative Medicine. The program will run from May 20, 2024, to July 26, 2024, providing participants with a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful research activities while developing essential skills for their future careers. As a Research Assistant Intern, you will support the assigned department(s) by performing a variety of research-related tasks, including data compilation, manipulation, and presentation. You will be introduced to the types of projects typically encountered during graduate research training, which will help you understand the planning, discipline, and teamwork necessary to pursue fundamental questions in the biological sciences. Throughout the ten-week program, you will work on individual research projects under the supervision of faculty members from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. In addition to laboratory work, you will participate in professional development activities, including weekly workshops and seminars, aimed at enhancing your research skills and knowledge. This internship will allow you to gain experience in modern research techniques and provide you with the opportunity to plan and execute experimental strategies to address scientific questions.
