About the position

The Research Assistant position at The Wistar Institute involves performing a variety of laboratory tasks and experiments, particularly focusing on genetic engineering of CAR T cells and conducting in vivo testing of these therapies against HIV and blood cancers. Responsibilities

  • Perform genetic engineering of Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T cells.
  • Conduct mammalian cell culture techniques.
  • Execute in vivo testing of CAR T cell therapies in humanized mice.
  • Assist in understanding T cell dysfunction and exhaustion in chronic viral infections and malignancies.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Investigator and other lab members on research projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a science-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for scientific inquiry.
  • Prior experience in mammalian cell culture techniques and assays (preferred).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with genetic engineering techniques.
  • Familiarity with in vivo models of disease.
