About the position

The Research Assistant position at the Laboratory of Virology and Infectious Disease at Rockefeller University focuses on various aspects of molecular virology, including the study of viral pathogenesis and vaccine development. The laboratory is dedicated to researching animal RNA viruses, such as the hepatitis C virus, yellow fever virus, bovine viral diarrhea virus, and Sindbis virus. The selected candidate will engage in significant research activities aimed at understanding the mechanisms of attenuation of the live-attenuated yellow fever vaccine, investigating antiviral compounds and their mechanisms of action against flaviviruses, and developing nanobody reagents for pathogen neutralization and detection. In this role, the Research Assistant will be responsible for performing a variety of assays related to virus replication and host responses. This includes conducting in vitro binding and neutralization assays, generating virus stocks, and quantifying stocks and virus samples from experiments. Additionally, the position involves performing in vivo pathogenesis and inhibition assays using mouse models, as well as other related duties as assigned or requested. The successful candidate will need to adhere to biosafety procedures while working with human pathogens that require biosafety containment, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols.
