About the position

Wayne State University Law School's Disability Law Clinic ('Wayne Law') is seeking applications from Class of 2024 graduates of an ABA-accredited law school for a one calendar year Post-Graduate Fellowship. The fellowship offers an opportunity for a recent law school graduate to gain experience working with Wayne State's Disability Law Clinic. The fellow's responsibilities may include, but are not necessarily limited to the following: Legal Research Assistance, Assistance for preparing for, attending and representing clients and social security disability clinics, Interviewing and counseling clients, Data Entry/Management, Student & Community Engagement, Special Projects. The fellow will work closely with the director of the DLC. The fellow will work on client matters for DLC. This includes the responsibilities listed above, as well as additional responsibilities as assigned that are viewed to be in line with the position.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school required
  • Bar passage not required
  • Experience in working with clients seeking social security benefits preferred
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Ability to responsibly manage multiple projects
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision

Benefits

  • Salary hire maximum: $45,000
