About the position

The Research Assistant position in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Washington University School of Medicine involves a variety of responsibilities centered around conducting research experiments and supporting the overall research efforts of the team. In addition to conducting experiments and assays, the Research Assistant will be responsible for maintaining data files and performing data entry to ensure accurate record-keeping. Coordination of tissue cultures, reagents, and probe tests is also part of the job, along with adhering to established safety procedures and maintaining documentation related to laboratory and specimen conditions. The assistant will collaborate with other institutions and investigators, contributing to the development of hypotheses and methodologies for testing. General lab maintenance, including supply and equipment orders, is also expected, along with literature research on specified topics. The role may include other duties as assigned, reflecting the dynamic nature of research work in a laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience in laboratory operations or equivalent combination of education and experience equaling 6 years.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement general laboratory procedures and conduct research.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Writing and oral communication skills.
  • Data organization skills.
