About the position

The Research Assistant Professor position in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh is a full-time faculty role focused on advancing research in developmental and cell mechanobiology while also contributing to undergraduate education. The position requires a PhD or equivalent degree and more than five years of postdoctoral experience. The successful candidate will engage in both independent and collaborative research, manage undergraduate programs, and oversee educational responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research in developmental and cell mechanobiology.
  • Develop and apply cell biological manipulations integrated with biomechanical studies of morphogenesis.
  • Write grant applications to secure funding for research projects.
  • Publish scientific findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific meetings.
  • Assist in teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Oversee laboratory staff performing experiments.
  • Manage ABET requirements and coordinate undergraduate program activities.
  • Supervise undergraduate teaching assistants and oversee undergraduate events.

Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent degree in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, biomedical sciences, or closely related disciplines.
  • More than five years of postdoctoral experience in relevant research fields.
  • Substantial experience in undergraduate education and STEM education pedagogy.
  • Proven track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
