About the position

The Research Assistant Professor - Career position at Washington State University focuses on advancing research in pollinator management practices, particularly for managed species. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and implement research programs that align with Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies aimed at reducing stress on pollinators, based on the needs of stakeholders. This role is integral to the mission of the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS) and the Department of Entomology, emphasizing the importance of stakeholder engagement in research initiatives. The candidate will be responsible for acquiring competitive extramural funding from various sources, including state, regional, and national agencies, as well as the agricultural industry, to support a comprehensive research agenda. Dissemination of research findings is crucial, and the incumbent will be expected to publish results in peer-reviewed journals, present at scientific conferences, and engage with the grower community through various communication platforms. Collaboration with other researchers, Extension professionals, private crop consultants, and stakeholders is essential to ensure the research is relevant and impactful. This position is a full-time, fixed-term faculty role with a commitment to a 12-month term, expected to conclude on July 1, 2027, unless extended based on funding and need. The role requires a Ph.D. in entomology or a closely related field, with a strong emphasis on honey bee and pollinator management issues pertinent to Washington's agricultural landscape. The successful candidate will demonstrate a record of research accomplishments and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

Requirements
