About the position

The University of Chicago is seeking a Research Assistant Professor in Climate Systems Engineering to contribute to a world-leading initiative focused on solar geoengineering, carbon removal, and glacial ice preservation. This full-time, career-track position involves translational research aimed at influencing the development and governance of climate engineering technologies for public benefit, under the guidance of the initiative's Executive Committee.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in translational research impacting climate engineering technologies.
  • Collaborate with faculty and stakeholders on climate systems engineering projects.
  • Contribute to the development and governance of climate engineering initiatives.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in earth and environmental sciences or a related field at the start of appointment.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience beyond Ph.D. training.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proven ability to conduct high-impact translational research.
  • Track record of collaboration beyond Ph.D. discipline.
