About the position

The University of Washington is seeking a self-funded Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences. This non-tenure track position, effective September 2025, focuses on conducting and securing funding for research related to executive functioning and developmental neuroscience, particularly in clinical populations such as individuals with autism. The role also involves mentoring trainees and participating in professional service activities.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting an independently-funded research program focused on executive functioning and developmental neuroscience in individuals with neurological and/or neurodevelopmental disorders, emphasizing autism and communication.
  • Securing and maintaining external funding to fully support the position and all aspects of the research program.
  • Disseminating findings at national/international conferences and through journal publications.
  • Mentoring departmental trainees in the conduct of research.
  • Participating in professional and departmental service activities.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in Speech and Hearing Sciences, Clinical Psychology, or a related field (or foreign equivalent).
  • Experience using qualitative and quantitative approaches to assess neuropsychological functioning across development.
