About the position

Interius BioTherapeutics Is Seeking a Research Assistant/Associate, Discovery to join us on our incredible journey. We are clinical stage biotech start-up developing a novel bioplatform for targeted gene delivery that enables the right payload to be delivered to the right cells in vivo. As a recent graduate or experienced research professional, you will bring your academic knowledge and experience to an R&D team that loves to mentor entry level staff. As a critical part of the team, you will be responsible for the execution of Discovery experiments, including routine cell culture, cell-based assays to evaluate experimental constructs, and assisting in the completion of in vivo, small animal experiments, all while following research protocols and standard operating protocols (SOPs) with precision and consistency. In this role, you will become comfortable with interactions at all levels in the organization, you see yourself as a quick learner, detail-oriented, a multi-tasker, self-reliant, problem-solving budding scientist with utmost integrity, and excellent interpersonal skills. Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily experiments independently and in collaboration with other members of the scientific team and thrive in a rapidly evolving research environment.
  • Following research protocols and standard operating protocols (SOPs) with precision and consistency.
  • Conduct routine cell culture and cell assays with Discovery Scientists.
  • Learn vector design and immune-based assays including molecular biology, multi-color flow cytometry, and ELISA.
  • Assist in the performance of in vivo studies including animal handling, injections, and imaging as well as blood collection and tissue dissection.
  • Organize and maintain experimental work in an electronic lab notebook.
  • Occasional weekend work might be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biology or related discipline with 0-2 years of experience.
  • Experience with mouse experiments preferred.
  • Experience with cell-based assays is preferred.
  • Experience with mammalian cell and tissue culture.
  • Experience with virus production/purification and transfection/transduction is a plus.
  • Desire to learn and contribute in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Self-directed and independent, but also able to effectively collaborate with the entire Interius team to reach a goal.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with external and internal contacts.
  • Excellent attention to detail, maintenance of records and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
