About the position

The Research Assistant Scientist position at the University of Florida is a 12-month, non-tenure-accruing role focused entirely on research within the Florida Medical Entomology Laboratory. Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on the biology and control of mosquitoes and the pathogens they transmit.
  • Participate in undergraduate and graduate education by chairing and serving on graduate committees.
  • Supervise thesis and dissertation research for graduate students.
  • Supervise undergraduate research projects.
  • Publish research results in collaboration with graduate students.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Entomology or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated laboratory experience in relevant research areas.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish interpersonal relationships and procure extramural funding.
  • Commitment to the mission of the Land-Grant system and UF core values.

Nice-to-haves

  • Postdoctoral experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience with mosquito/vector/arbovirus control research.
