About the position

The George Washington University (GW) Department of Neurology is seeking a Research Assistant to join their team. This full-time position is available immediately and is funded by a NIH grant aimed at investigating the pathology underlying vestibular neural circuitry in an animal model for congenital vestibular disorders. The department is committed to providing cutting-edge diagnostics for clinical care, exceptional training and education for future neurologists and scientists, and innovative research to advance medical knowledge. In this role, the Research Assistant will utilize immunolabeling approaches and confocal imaging techniques to study the vestibular inner ear and brainstem vestibular nuclei neurons in a chick model. The core responsibilities include assisting with data collection, administration of experimental procedures, and supporting the preparation of manuscripts for publication. Additionally, the position may involve some lab maintenance duties as a secondary function. The Research Assistant will work under immediate supervision, and the primary job functions do not require exercising independent judgment. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary, and the omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning logically related tasks.
