About the position

The Research Assistant will support preclinical studies by executing various functional outcomes to characterize rodent models and assist in testing drug efficacy. This role requires multitasking, strong communication, and organizational skills, along with adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). The position involves working independently and demonstrating proficiency in rodent handling while following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Responsibilities

• Execute functional outcomes including open-field assessment, grip strength, gait analysis, plethysmography, ECG, etc.
• Support Animal Outcomes staff in setting up and performing outcomes, including quality checking and inputting data.
• Assist in ordering and stocking inventory, and perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance.
• Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Study Protocols.
• Document with strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
• Humanely and confidently handle rodents.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a Life Science Field
• Prior experience in laboratory animal handling and restraint techniques
• Ability to work as part of a team with strong organizational skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
• Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow verbal instructions
• Strong understanding and ability to follow laboratory methods and SOPs
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
