About the position

The Research Assistant position at Endeavor Health involves supporting various research studies conducted at Glenbrook Hospital and other affiliated locations. The role is essential in preparing sites for studies, assisting in the development of systems and timelines for each study's aims, and creating standard operating procedures for study protocols. The Research Assistant will also be responsible for training medical assistants and nurses on study protocols, ensuring that all team members are well-informed and compliant with the necessary procedures. In addition to these responsibilities, the Research Assistant will review and prepare correspondence with the NorthShore Institutional Review Board (IRB), which includes initial submissions, protocol amendments, adverse events, and yearly progress reports. Maintaining regulatory documents in accordance with sponsor and IRB protocols is crucial for the integrity of the research. The position also entails accountability and maintenance of study medications, which may involve dispensing medications to patients, coordinating with the NorthShore pharmacy for storage and maintenance, and ensuring compliance with study protocols. The Research Assistant will complete various study activities as dictated by research protocols, which may include conducting face-to-face and telephone assessments, as well as medical records abstraction. Coordination and scheduling of appointments for diagnostic tests and procedures associated with study protocols are also key components of this role. This position is full-time, requiring standard business hours from Monday to Friday, and is based onsite at Glenbrook Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare sites for conducting the study
  • Assist in the development of systems & detail of timelines for each study's aims
  • Assist in the development of standard operating procedures for study protocols
  • Assist with the training of medical assistants and nurses with regard to study protocols
  • Review & prepare correspondence with the NorthShore IRB (initial submission, protocol amendments, adverse events, yearly progress reports, etc)
  • Maintain regulatory documents as per sponsor & IRB protocols
  • Responsible for accountability & maintenance of study medications, including dispensing study meds to patients and coordinating storage with NorthShore pharmacy
  • Complete study activities as dictated by research protocols, including face-to-face and telephone assessments, medical records abstraction, etc.
  • Coordinate & schedule appointments for diagnostic tests & procedures associated with study protocols

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Some experience in research/clinical trials is preferred
  • Phlebotomy skills required
  • Research certification (CCRP) after 2 years employment in research position
