About the position
The Research Assistant position at NYBG is a temporary, part-time role focused on supporting the Curator of Amazonian Botany in tasks related to a taxonomic monograph. Responsibilities
- Maintain database and update as needed
- Process new dried plant collections
- Organize archives of field images and botanical drawings
- Annotate specimens of Burseraceae and return loans
- Prepare herbarium labels
- Prepare images of leaf clearings for publication
Requirements
- At least 5 years using Excel, Word, and PhotoShop
- Familiarity with KE-EMu software
- 1 year using ChatGPT
- At least 5 years experience working in herbaria, cataloguing, mounting, digital imaging, and filing
- Familiar with flora and geography of Neotropics
- Fluent in Portuguese and English; working knowledge of Spanish preferred
Benefits
