About the position

CICONIX, LLC is seeking a Research Assistant to support the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence (TBICoE) at Joint Base San Antonio. The Research Assistant will play a crucial role in assisting with clinical investigation projects, which includes recruiting potential study subjects, collecting and organizing data, and scheduling follow-up appointments for patients. This position is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of research activities and compliance with federal and state regulations. The Research Assistant will be responsible for performing data entry for clinical investigation projects, maintaining databases, and organizing screening and enrollment logs. They will also be tasked with securing and organizing study-related documents and supplies, ensuring that all materials are compliant with regulatory standards. The role involves creating, collecting, and disseminating study data, as well as assisting with the review and completion of study manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs). In addition to data management, the Research Assistant will screen, consent, and schedule potential research participants for testing or evaluation. They will facilitate follow-up assessments, reminders, and testing, ensuring that all related documentation is accurately maintained. The position requires regular communication with the study team, under the direction of project leaders, through email and conference calls. The Research Assistant may also assist with program improvement initiatives and literature searches, obtaining articles for review and collating materials for reports and meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data entry for clinical investigation projects and maintain databases and screening/enrollment logs.
  • Maintain study-related documents and supplies, securing and organizing documents as required by regulations.
  • Create, collect, disseminate, and maintain appropriate files of study data, assisting with the review and completion of study manuals and SOPs.
  • Screen, consent, and schedule potential research participants for testing or evaluation.
  • Facilitate follow-up assessment reminders, scheduling, and testing with all related documentation.
  • Extract data from patient and/or research participant medical records; transcribe and resolve data queries in study forms.
  • Prepare documents under the direction of project leaders and maintain awareness of research regulatory issues.
  • Communicate regularly with the study team via email and conference calling as needed.
  • Assist with TBI program/project improvement initiatives at the site.
  • Conduct literature searches and obtain articles for review.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support if working in a hospital environment.
  • Human Subjects training required.
  • 6 months to 2 years of experience in research/clinical investigations/studies required.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills required.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to legal, professional, and ethical codes regarding confidentiality and privacy.
