About the position

The Research Assistant position at Friends Research Institute focuses on supporting a mindfulness intervention study aimed at African American caregivers of individuals living with HIV/AIDS. The role involves data collection, analysis, and project coordination under the mentorship of experienced researchers. This position is integral to addressing health inequities and improving public health outcomes through innovative research.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in collecting and maintaining research data, including participant recruitment, orientation to the mHealth app, interviews, and surveys.
  • Support data analysis, including quantitative and qualitative data processing, statistical analysis, and data management.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and attend team meetings.
  • Ensure that all research activities adhere to ethical and regulatory guidelines.
  • Conduct literature reviews to stay current with the latest research findings and assist in the development of research proposals and manuscripts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., public health, sociology, psychology, or nursing) is required.
  • Master's degree in public health or related field is preferred.
  • Previous research experience is preferred.
  • Strong interest in public health research.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., Stata, SPSS) is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous research experience is preferred.
