About the position

The Research Assistant position at the University of Oregon's Center for Equity Promotion (CEQP) involves supporting research activities focused on improving educational outcomes for underserved communities, particularly Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (NHPI) populations. The role includes data collection, participant management, and project facilitation, working closely with faculty researchers and community members. This position requires travel to various research sites and offers the flexibility of remote work in specific areas.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in carrying out a specific research agenda as part of a research team.
  • Conduct research, outreach, and external engagement activities.
  • Support the implementation and coordination of research activities for the 'Navigating New Currents' project.
  • Manage participant recruitment and data collection processes.
  • Track project progress and facilitate project-related tasks.
  • Interact with project participants and external collaborators at research sites.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and other project staff to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Adjust work schedule to accommodate participant availability, including evenings and weekends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field such as psychology, social work, or education.
  • Two years of experience conducting behavioral research studies with community samples.
  • Ability to travel to research study sites in Oregon and Washington.
  • Strong research skills and cultural competence, particularly in Pacific Islander communities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, REDCap, SPSS, and similar programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Excellent verbal and written skills in one or more Pacific Island languages.
  • Experience with participant recruitment and assessment.
  • Experience supervising data collection and working with intervention staff.
  • Familiarity with federally funded projects and reporting requirements.
