About the position

The Research Associate 2 or 3 (RA2, RA3) will engage in independent research projects under the guidance of the Principal Investigator at LSU Health New Orleans. This role involves assisting in the implementation of NIH-funded research studies related to lung cancer screening and smoking cessation, preparing necessary materials for Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions, and managing participant recruitment and compensation. The RA will also analyze and summarize data, and contribute to drafting reports and manuscripts for research dissemination.

Responsibilities

• Plan, assist, and conduct independent research projects.
• Implement NIH-funded research studies related to lung cancer screening and smoking cessation.
• Prepare Institutional Review Board (IRB) materials.
• Prepare materials for intervention and recruitment of study participants.
• Track and collect participant information and ensure compliance with study protocols.
• Analyze, summarize, and organize collected data.
• Draft, edit, and revise reports and manuscripts for dissemination of research findings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Education, Social Sciences, or a related field.
• 3 years of related work experience for RA2; 5 years for RA3.
• Strong quantitative data analysis skills.
• Knowledge of behavioral or community research methods.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact with diverse levels of personnel and external stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

• Fluency in statistical packages such as SAS, R, SPSS, or others.
• Familiarity with REDCap or other online database and survey platforms.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating complex health-related programs or research.
