About the position

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine is seeking a Research Associate to support various programs within the Board on Environmental Change and Society. This role involves conducting research and analysis to enhance understanding of environmental issues, drafting background papers, and preparing project outlines. The Research Associate will also manage databases, respond to public inquiries, and assist with administrative tasks related to projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform research and analysis on environmental issues and trends.
• Develop information sources and compile summaries of data and literature.
• Prepare preliminary outlines of projects to determine appropriate methodologies.
• Synthesize data for reports and verify references for committee reports.
• Attend meetings to present findings and prepare meeting summaries.
• Ensure compliance with Federal Advisory Committee Act and maintain project documentation.
• Write technical papers, abstracts, and edit report materials.
• Manage bibliographic and analytical databases and document statistical analyses.
• Respond to public inquiries and increase awareness of studies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent knowledge.
• Two years of related professional experience.
• Ability to solve complex intellectual problems and exercise independent judgment.
• Experience working in complex environments with high organizational effectiveness.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.
