About the position

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine is seeking a Research Associate to support the Board on Environmental Change and Society. This role involves conducting research and analysis to enhance understanding of environmental issues, drafting background papers, and preparing project outlines. The Research Associate will manage databases, respond to inquiries, and assist with administrative tasks related to various programs and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform research and analysis on environmental issues and trends.
  • Develop information sources and compile summaries of data and literature.
  • Prepare preliminary outlines of projects to determine appropriate methodologies.
  • Synthesize data for reports and verify references for accuracy.
  • Attend meetings to present findings and prepare summaries.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Advisory Committee Act and maintain project documentation.
  • Write technical papers, abstracts, and edit report materials.
  • Manage bibliographic and analytical databases and track references.
  • Respond to public inquiries and increase awareness of studies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent knowledge.
  • Two years of related professional experience.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to solve complex intellectual problems and exercise independent judgment.
