About the position

The Research Associate/Data Analyst position at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine focuses on health policy projects related to disparities in oral health. The role involves managing datasets, estimating statistical models, and ensuring the integrity of data collection and analysis. The successful candidate will collaborate with a research team to summarize findings and contribute to publications, while adhering to institutional guidelines for handling confidential data.

Responsibilities

  • Manage various datasets and estimate statistical models.
  • Report formats and other analysis considerations.
  • Determine and write statistical considerations and algorithms for protocol documents according to study design.
  • Manage and maintain documentation of files and analyses.
  • Summarize and present findings as reports, tables, graphs, and models.
  • Collaborate on manuscripts, abstracts, and other publications documenting study findings.
  • Engage in research dissemination activities including presentations at lab meetings and updates to funding agencies.
  • Participate in modelling work group meetings and contribute to the development of new projects and proposals.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with other research team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in statistics, computer science, data science, or closely related field with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in statistical programming languages (Python, R, or SQL).
  • Experience and knowledge of quantitative methods including causal inference and econometric analyses.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in statistics, economics, or related quantitative field preferred.
  • Experience working on public health, health services, and/or epidemiological research projects strongly preferred.
  • Strong quantitative background and experience working with large data sets.
  • Desire to learn new modelling approaches and statistical methods as necessary for research projects.
  • Previous experience with health care claims (Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance plans) strongly preferred.
