About the position

Mathematica is seeking highly organized Research Associates to support research on programs and policies for individuals with disabilities. This role is integral to a project team, where the Research Associate will be responsible for a variety of tasks including project management, technical assistance for program monitoring, and both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis. The ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs and priorities of clients. The position is contingent upon the successful award of work, with an anticipated start date in early September 2024, should the project be awarded. This is a full-time role, and the Research Associate will be a regular employee of Mathematica. In this position, the Research Associate will provide logistical and operational support to assist with planning complex projects, managing schedules and finances, and executing high-quality deliverables to meet client objectives. Responsibilities include compiling and tracking information in spreadsheets and databases, coordinating project tasks such as scheduling meetings and interviews, analyzing complex problems, and preparing monthly reports to summarize project status and performance. The Research Associate will also identify and implement process improvements to enhance project performance and assist with onboarding activities related to project security and access to necessary systems and applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide logistical and operational support for planning complex projects and tasks.
  • Manage schedules and finances to execute high-quality deliverables.
  • Compile and track information in spreadsheets and databases, reporting findings to the project team and clients.
  • Coordinate project tasks, including scheduling meetings and interviews, tracking agenda items, and taking comprehensive meeting minutes.
  • Analyze complex problems and communicate possible solutions to project leadership.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports summarizing project status and performance.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance project performance.
  • Assist with project onboarding activities, including coordinating security training documentation and access to federal systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably with experience in independent or group research projects.
  • Ability to travel domestically multiple times per year.
  • Willingness to undergo a background investigation for public trust security clearance.
  • Experience with Excel, SharePoint, CRM tools, and collaborative tools like Atlassian Confluence or Jira.
  • Aptitude for proactive problem-solving.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects and tasks.
  • Willingness to adapt and be flexible in responsibilities.
