About the position

The Research Associate position at the American Institutes for Research (AIR) focuses on supporting the implementation and evaluation of healthcare service delivery and payment models. The role involves a variety of activities including health program implementation, program evaluation, and technical assistance, primarily funded by Federal Agencies such as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The selected candidate will engage in policy research and operations support related to Medicare, Medicaid, and innovative healthcare delivery models, contributing to AIR's mission of creating a more equitable world through evidence-based research.

Responsibilities

  • Provide analytic and operational support for the implementation, monitoring or evaluation of innovative healthcare service delivery and payment models.
  • Apply research methods and techniques to manage and analyze qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Write customized and presentation-quality reports and operating procedures for a variety of audiences.
  • Provide custom technical assistance on complex policies to different audiences.
  • Help with administrative and project management tasks.
  • Write, compile, and edit assigned portions of proposals.
  • Review work products to ensure quality and consistency of content.
  • Foster an environment that embraces diverse perspectives, abilities, racial/ethnic and cultural backgrounds, ages, gender identities and expressions, educational experiences, and life stories.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Economics, Public Policy, Public Health, Epidemiology, or related social science field required OR Bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Proposal or report preparation experience.
  • Experience with qualitative or quantitative research methods.
  • Experience collecting and analyzing information from doctors, hospitals and other healthcare providers participating in healthcare programs or demonstrations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, or healthcare service delivery and payment models is preferred but not required.
  • Experience and knowledge of data analysis and data management techniques using R, Python, SAS, SQL, SPSS, STATA, Access, Excel, and/or other databases is preferred but not required.
