About the position

The Research Associate I (Data Analyst) position at the National Strategic Planning & Analysis Research Center (NSPARC) involves conducting research and analysis related to workforce and economic development. The role requires collaboration with a diverse team of researchers and professionals to produce reports and materials that align higher education with workforce needs and evaluate program outcomes. The successful candidate will work independently and as part of a team, contributing to various funded research projects.

Responsibilities

• Participate as a team member within the research and analysis teams and interact with scientists from other areas in NSPARC.
• Provide research support including data collection, data processing, data analysis, data verification, statistical analysis, and the tabulation of analytical results.
• Draft literature reviews, pre-analysis plans, research reports, and other materials related to funded research projects.
• Assist in project and program planning and scheduling activities related to funded research projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or Statistics.
• Demonstrated competence in research and analysis.

Nice-to-haves

• Analytical and research skills.
• Experience with descriptive and inferential statistical analysis, including regression analysis and non-parametric tests.
• Familiarity with MS-Excel, SAS, and MATLAB.
• Experience working on applied research projects in a university environment.
• Exposure to research projects that support Mississippi state agency programs, including unemployment insurance programs and Medicaid program evaluation.
• Excellent writing and communication abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
