About the position

The IN VITRO Research Associate at Calidi Biotherapeutics plays a crucial role in advancing immuno-oncology research by performing experiments and developing new methods for the utilization of oncolytic viruses. This position involves collaboration with team members to generate and analyze data, maintain cell cultures, and support various laboratory tasks, contributing to the company's innovative approaches in cancer treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Generate immunophenotyping and immune cell functional data using techniques such as multicolor flow cytometry, ELISA, and xCELLigence RTCA.
  • Isolate protein, DNA, and RNA from cell cultures and tissues, and perform gene/protein analysis using qPCR and Western blot.
  • Maintain primary and established cell lines to support in vivo studies.
  • Assist with general cell culture for the production of oncolytic viruses, including herpes simplex virus, vaccinia virus, and/or adenovirus.
  • Generate new therapeutic recombinant viruses.
  • Analyze and organize data with strong attention to detail.
  • Assist with various laboratory maintenance and cleaning tasks.
  • Adhere to good health and safety practices and compliance with applicable EH&S rules and participate in mandatory safety training programs.
  • Follow SOPs to ensure study integrity and quality.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • B.S. or higher in life science or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a biotechnology company with broad knowledge and experience in cell and molecular biology methods; Immuno-Oncology field is preferred.
  • Strong hands-on experience in acquiring and analyzing flow cytometry data (multi-parameter flow cytometry, intracellular, extracellular staining, flowjo analysis) is required.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture is required.
  • Experience in immune cell-based assays (ELISA, MSD, cytotoxicity assays) is highly desirable.
  • Experience in a range of in vitro cellular/molecular biology techniques (cell culture, cloning, qPCR, Western blot, immunohistochemistry, microscopy) is preferred.
  • Excellent data organization, analysis, and troubleshooting skills using electronic lab notebook.
  • Dedication to working in a team-oriented environment to contribute to shared projects.
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Graphad Prism, Flowjo.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the Immuno-Oncology field.
  • Experience in immune cell-based assays (ELISA, MSD, cytotoxicity assays) is highly desirable.
