The successful applicant will perform varying standardized laboratory assignments and experiments, primarily focusing on basic laboratory activities. This includes isolating proteins and nucleic acids from tissue, conducting immunohistochemistry studies using confocal microscopy, purifying cDNA plasmids, running gel electrophoresis, performing basic sub-cloning, and executing basic virological assays such as propagation and titration. The applicant will also be responsible for maintaining records of available research animals and overseeing animal colonies. It is expected that the applicant will eventually be able to execute basic animal study techniques. Initially, the applicant will work under the supervision of senior experts and is expected to gain independence after completing the necessary training. Additionally, the applicant will be responsible for collecting data and summarizing results for publication and/or presentation purposes.
