About the position

The Research Associate II - Analytical position at Mapp Biopharmaceutical involves supporting the Early and Advanced Research Development Groups by performing laboratory duties and assisting scientists in their research and bioprocess development objectives. This role is crucial for executing high-quality research and development activities aimed at developing life-saving monoclonal antibody treatments.

Responsibilities

  • Performs various HPLC/UPLC analytical methods such as Poros Protein A, SEC, SEC-MALS, cIEX, HILIC, using multiple HPLC/UPLC systems.
  • Performs measurement of protein and antibody purity via CE-SDS or equivalent method.
  • Performs impurity testing including host-cell DNA, HCP, and residual Protein A using commercially available ELISA kits.
  • Assists with antibody purification using AKTA FPLC or with plate-based purification to support product quality assessments.
  • Assists with pilot scale column packing and pilot scale antibody purification as needed.
  • Prepares buffers and solutions to support protein and antibody purification and product analytics, both at bench scale and pilot scale.
  • Performs general laboratory duties to support protein purification and analytical lab operation.
  • Maintains laboratory, equipment, and supplies by organizing laboratory space, tracking and maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies.
  • Maintains detailed and accurate records of all experiments performed.
  • Generates reports and documents as required.
  • Presents effectively and communicates results to supervisor and group.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree in a related scientific discipline with 2 years relevant industry research laboratory experience OR MS Degree in a related scientific discipline.
  • Strong conceptual understanding of biological research activities.
  • Proficient in the use of chromatography (HPLC/FPLC) systems and respective software suites.
  • Demonstrated excellence in attention to detail and good general laboratory skills, including accurate data collection and analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with protein analytical methods.
  • Hands-on experience with Waters UPLC and Wyatt MALS instrumentation.
