About the position

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is seeking applications for the position of Research Associate II. This role is designed for individuals who are exceptionally qualified and passionate about contributing to research in the field of environmental engineering. The Research Associate II will play a crucial role in supporting and conducting research focused on three primary areas: source tracking of environmental contaminants in both natural and engineered systems, monitoring and modeling the dynamics of environmental microbiomes, and developing laboratory protocols for chemical and microbiological analyses. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and implementation of field and laboratory sampling and analysis, which will require a strong understanding of environmental systems and analytical techniques. Additionally, the role involves modeling and data analytics, which are essential for interpreting research findings and contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field. The Research Associate II will also be tasked with preparing and presenting project reports, publishing research results in academic journals, and actively participating in the writing of research proposals to secure funding for future projects. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful research that addresses critical environmental challenges and contributes to the scientific community.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 2 years of research experience (including degree program) in water/wastewater quality with training in advanced instrumentation for chemical analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • PhD in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 4 years of experience in molecular microbial ecology research.
