About the position

The Research Associate II position in the Martins Laboratory at Cedars-Sinai focuses on conducting research related to the molecular regulation of immune responses, particularly T lymphocyte function. The role involves performing laboratory tasks, developing technical expertise, and participating in various aspects of the research process, including experimentation, data analysis, and report preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of increasingly complex experimental protocols and procedures.
  • Assist in the design of new complex or unusual protocols and techniques.
  • Keep accurate and detailed records of experiments and results.
  • Assist in identifying and troubleshooting unexpected results.
  • Order laboratory supplies and support laboratory operations.
  • Maintain lab equipment and related records, coordinating the use of lab equipment as necessary.
  • Assist in the operation of specialized equipment required by the area of research.
  • Prepare data for publication and/or presentation at scholarly meetings.
  • Observe and comply with safety standards and procedures.
  • Orient research laboratory assistants or lower-level research associates and undergraduate student researchers on day-to-day lab operations and routine procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a science-related field required.
  • One (1) year of research laboratory experience is required.
  • Experience in biochemistry and flow cytometry is preferred.
  • Experience with mice is highly desirable.
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently.
  • Superior interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work across company disciplines and functional units.
  • Familiar with routine laboratory procedures and experimental protocols.
  • Ability to manage multiple clerical trials with attention to detail.
  • Computer skills including Excel and Word.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in biochemistry and flow cytometry.
  • Experience with mice.
