About the position

The Research Associate II position at Houston Methodist is responsible for conducting advanced laboratory experiments on research projects with minimal supervision. This role involves providing advanced technical research skills, establishing test methods and procedures, and evaluating results under the direction of the Department Chairperson or Scientist. The position also includes oversight and guidance to other associates, ensuring effective communication and collaboration within the research team to achieve scientific goals.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced laboratory experiments on research projects with minimal supervision.
  • Evaluate results of processes and summarize data for research purposes.
  • Assist Principal Investigator (PI)/faculty by monitoring a team of Research Assistants and Post Docs.
  • Organize workflow, proactively problem solve, and manage multiple ongoing priorities under the direction of PI/Faculty.
  • Analyze data for research grants and publications, maintaining accurate records of all research and data collection.
  • Write and maintain regulatory and safety committee applications/protocols as directed by PI/Faculty.
  • Participate in publication and grant writing at the direction of PI/Faculty.

Requirements

  • Terminal Degree with six years' post-doctoral experience or a Master's degree with nine years' research experience.
  • Demonstrated skills and competencies necessary to safely perform assigned job functions.
  • Sufficient proficiency in English for effective communication with patients, physicians, and co-workers.
  • Ability to initiate and complete tasks with minimal supervision and deal with high volumes and rigid deadlines.
