About the position

The Research Associate II position at Houston Methodist is responsible for conducting advanced laboratory experiments on research projects with minimal supervision. This role involves providing advanced technical research skills, establishing test methods and procedures, and evaluating results. The position also includes oversight and guidance to other associates, ensuring effective communication and collaboration within the research team to achieve scientific goals.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced laboratory experiments on research projects with minimal supervision.
  • Provide advanced technical research skills and establish test methods and procedures under the direction of the Department Chairperson or Scientist.
  • Evaluate results of processes and summarize data for research grants and publications.
  • Assist Principal Investigator (PI)/faculty by monitoring a team of Research Assistants and Post Docs in scientific activities.
  • Organize workflow, proactively problem solve, and manage multiple ongoing priorities at the direction of the PI/Faculty.
  • Maintain accurate records of all research and data collection, ensuring quality control of project operations.
  • Participate in publication and grant writing at the direction of the PI/Faculty.
  • Contribute to a team-focused work environment and promote a positive work atmosphere.

Requirements

  • Master's degree with nine years of research experience or a Terminal Degree with six years of post-doctoral experience.
  • Demonstrated skills and competencies necessary to safely perform assigned job functions.
  • Sufficient proficiency in English to perform essential job functions, especially regarding patient or employee safety.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in grant writing and publication processes.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and safety committee applications/protocols.
