About the position

The Research Associate II at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center plays a crucial role in supporting ongoing research initiatives under the guidance of the Principal Investigator or higher-level laboratory personnel. This position requires a blend of independent work and collaboration within a team environment. The Research Associate II will engage in both standard and investigative laboratory tasks, primarily focusing on mammalian tissue culture and bench work. Proficiency in cell-based assays and fundamental molecular biology techniques is essential, including RNA and DNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, cloning, and Western blotting. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, enabling them to plan and coordinate work assignments effectively. They will also be adept at establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with colleagues, demonstrating clear communication skills both verbally and in writing. Experience with general laboratory techniques and mouse models is highly desirable, as these skills will enhance the candidate's ability to contribute to the laboratory's research goals. In this role, the Research Associate II will be responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring it is clean and operational, and coordinating instrument standardization with documented reports. They will also manage the reordering of laboratory supplies under appropriate supervision and contribute to the preparation of manuscripts, grants, and compliance documents as directed by their supervisor. Data collection, organization, and documentation will be key responsibilities, along with data analysis using standardized procedures. Participation in lab meetings and departmental seminars to present data is also expected, along with other duties as required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains laboratory equipment in a clean and working order, including coordinating instrument standardization documented by written report.
  • Reorders stock laboratory supplies when depleted under appropriate supervision.
  • Contributes to the preparation of manuscripts, grants, administrative and research compliance documents as directed by supervisor.
  • Technically responsible for the collection, organization and permanent documentation of data in physical and electronic formats as directed by immediate supervisor.
  • Responsible for data analysis using standardized procedures and protocols and under minimal supervision.
  • Participate and present data in lab meetings and Departmental Seminars.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in science or related field required.
  • One year of hands-on research experience is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience performing general laboratory techniques.
  • Experience with mouse models.
